Cross Florida Ride in Support of Ride 2 Recovery
My name is Nicki Griffin. I am a wife, mom of 4, follower of Christ, and an avid cyclist with a passion to love and encourage others. This is my story.
I grew up in a small town called Samson, Alabama. I met my husband Kenny in 1994 and we married in 1996. I have called New Brockton, Alabama home for the past 20 years. God has blessed me with 4 children. Being a mom is my life and I love it. My busy life involves raising my children, two boys and two girls ages ranging 9-18, being a Homeschool teacher to my girls, and a youth counselor at my church. Family is my life.
I began cycling 6 years ago. I quickly fell in love with it. Cycling has become one of my passions. Another passion that I have is helping others. In life we have desires and abilities that are God given. I strongly believe that we should use those gifts and talents to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I began praying that God would show me how I could combine my passions for cycling and helping others. I have done many charity rides over the past 6 years, but I wanted to do something more, something that is far reaching.
On April 2, 2017, I have the opportunity to do just that. I will be participating in the Cross Florida Ride. It is a 170 mile ride that starts at Cocoa Beach, Florida on the East coast, and finishes in Hernando County on the Gulf Coast. I wanted this ride to be about something more than me so I am riding with a purpose.
This ride is in support of Ride 2 Recovery's incredible veteran recovery, rehabilitaton and reintegration services. I am raising funds so that more injured veterans can participate in these free, life-changing programs and improve their mental and physical health and wellness. Your donation will help us save lives by restoring hope and purpose for our nation's healing heroes. My personal goal is to raise $2,500.
Life much like cycling, is a journey full of hills and flats. My hope is that I will continue on this journey doing what Christ has called me to do. I am reminded daily in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
